Emiliana Torrini’s pretty voice preceding received general attention during the end credits of 2002’s The Lord of the charms : The Two Towers, which featured the Icelandic singer performing “Gollum’s cry .” If the intense, fantastic sound saturating that path brought to mind another spunky soloist from the same isle , that’s probably refusal accident: Torrini reportedly got the lady of the Rings show only as Bjork was pregnant.
Torrini has a bit extra pop demand than her more avant-garde counterpart, although , and her ambitious new-fangled album Me and Armini shows rotten her panache for electronic music and even folk-shock . Known for incorporating bizarre instruments — from a Wurlitzer to a glockenspiel — Torrini is too adept by using her voice for rhythmic adjunct , a ability she puts to use in the funky “Jungle Drums.” simply the album’s most danceable road , the cry channels Regina Spektor on her most adorable, through Torrini’s charming inflection laid more intense drums and punctuated by a sharp exciting bass column.
