Lunedì 8 settembre Pete Wentz ha presentato a BBC Radio 1 il nuovo singolo dei Fall Out Boy “Centuries”. Come lo stesso bassista ha dichiarato durante l’intervista, il singolo farà parte del nuovo album che, però, non vedrà la luce prima dell’inizio 2015. Pete ha infatti dichiarato:
“We have 4/5 songs ready for the album, 8 written and we want to add 2 more. Album should be ready early 2015.”
Il nuovo singolo dei Fall Out Boy “Centuries” contiene il campionamento della celebre “Tom’s Diner”, pezzo scritto nel 1981 dalla cantante folk rock Suzanne Vega, contenuto nell’album “Solitude Standing” del 1987 e famoso in tutto il mondo per essere stata la prima traccia prodotta in MP3 nella storia della musica (era il 1991 quando l’ingegnere Karlheinz Brandenburg decise di utilizzare “Tom’s Diner” come test per comprimere la voce della cantante in un unico file di buona qualità).
Prima dei Fall Out Boy e di “Centuries”, la canzone di Suzanne Vega fu campionata anche da Tupac per “Dopefiend’s Diner”, da Lil Kim per “Right Now” e da Aaliyah per “Hot Like Fire”.
